Enchance your roleplaying

Bild
Always remember that someone is watching.  Enhancing your roleplaying Some challenges for the avid GM Improvisational-style challenges are fantastic for fostering creativity and quick thinking, as well as providing a new depth to connection between the player and the character.  Encourage spontaneity. Force players to react to unexpected situations without overthinking. This can help stay in character and make authentic decisions on the fly, without optimising their thoughts.   Foster collaboration. Players should build on each other's actions and cues and ideas, creating a shared narrative that is richer and more dynamic.  Character depth. By focusing on emotions, physical actions or hidden motivations, the player can help himself get a stronger sense of who the character is, beyond the stats on the sheet.   Problem-solving under pressure. High-stake situations requiring the players to solve problems creatively without relying to pre-planned strategie...

Vultures and Vengeance 1

Bild
Vultures and Vengeance Session One 1.1              The man in black Returning home from a laborious day on the range, the Boon siblings spot a pillar of smoke. The homestead was left in flames when they approached, with bodies strewn about, their lifeblood seeping into the thirsty desert sand. Of their parents or grandfather Jeremiah, there was no trace, but that was yet unclear whether it was a blessing or if their charred corpses were lingering in the embers of the main house. Caution preceded courage as the siblings scrabbled among the remains, gathering what they could and headed west before there could be a return of the perpetrators to the scene of the crime. Who knows who they were, this band of strange men headed by the man in the black cassock. Perhaps one day soon, they would be able to return to search for clues about what happened that dire day, and why. 1.         ...

The End (of 2023)

Bild
Plans for the end of 2023 As the end of 2023 draws nigh, I am trying to sum up some of the plans for the end of the year, as well as kicking us off into 2024. For each and every project, I try to provide some illustrations from Midjourney - enhanced graphical pleasure, you know...  For those of you who play in my groups, yes, there may be some clues here, both in the images and in the text, but I am thinking you should be awarded those if you have the tenacity and persistance to find your way here...  So here are the project plans for the games that I will GM for the end of the year.... Kult - The Labyrinth Resuming gaming after a period of dormancy, two very separate individuals will continue their ventures on Tuckernuck Island in the Nantucket Sound. There seem to be some strange links to the sinking of the USS Thresher, the first nuclear submarine, the lead boat of her class. SSN-593 went down, allegedly 350 km east of Cape Cod. Interestingly enough, it happens to be not ve...

Dimmornas Dal 1.1 - Historien om svärdet Um-Durman

Bild
Hören I till min historia, och jag skall förtälja er om en tid då världen var ung, då furstendömen låg spridda som juveler över världen, innan demonfursten kom till vår värld och slukade den i mörket. Mörka hemligheter härskade och världen slets itu. Motståndet växte men i balansen led världen alltmer.

RPG updates for autumn 23

Bild
Update So, everything turns to a standstill as I will remove myself from the world for a month of healing and leveling up. Since I do have lot of RPG-groups that are put to hold during my absence, I thought I would put in a massive post about the status of each, what's happening and what is planned in the future. I will attempt to keep this page updated for all the groups I presently GM - not the ones I play in, however. If you have suggestions, comments or thoughts, feel free to drop a line! See out there! For every group, I have also color-coded the status based on the current level of vested interest. Since many groups tend to "fall through" with lack of forward momentum, I color-code them as follows: Green - Massive work is being done on planning and development, and meetings are set up in the future. Smooth runnings. Yellow - Things are a little bit on hold, waiting for something. Red -  Stand-by until further. Group is waiting for energy infusion until ...

Two games, two scenes

Bild
Two games Horrible, evil illnesses spread across the land, tearing through my gaming groups like the coughing is tearing through my chest, threatening to spill my lungs out through my gullet. A lot of games have been cancelled due to sickness, but the weekend is looking up with two games. Kult, session 1 of Oakwood Height, and Call of Cthulhu, session 2 of the Haunting. And they bring with them some interesting settings I thought I would treat you to. The games of Kult and Call of Cthulhu are on something of the same theme, but totally different. As are the two groups that will be playing in these settings, although both groups have three players. It will be awesome to tackle these challenges, and see what develops! Detroit Metropolitan Detroit is home to some 4.3 million people, and the city is known for art, music and architecture, but mostly for the automotive industry. The big three, General Motors, Ford and Chrysler are all headquartered in Metro Detroit. In the ...

What's up with roleplaying?

Bild
There have been some major changes in the RPG market over the years. Since my first introduction to roleplaying about 40 years ago, I have more or less always stayed on the path, and it has been a long one. For me it started with D&D, because there was nothing else (yes, waaay back before there even was thought of putting an A in front). Then came Runequest and Traveller. And then there came the natural transition to Swedish games or translations, like Drakar och Demoner, Chock and Mutant. From thereon we went and now the market is totally flooded with all kinds of RPGs. Which, for me, is kind of the problem. Few games today get the supplements and expansions that they deserve. Instead the companies and authors shift their interest to something else, creating a new game. Often, even, with the same game engine, or slightly tweaked. There is a lot of width, but no depth. Eon, the Swedish game, used to be the exception, along with other notable games like Call of Cthulhu and AD...
