The being of everything and nothing

Bild
Life ain't always easy and the path is not always clear. That much I can easily say. It is now the beginning of april, and things are finally calming down a bit. I can personally see the light at the end of the tunnel, since from the 1st of May and on, I will no longer be CO of Skavsta. That will be somewhat of a relief, as work has been taking a hefty toll out of me lately. Things are about to change, dear friends! Photography is an ever-changing issue. It used to be my prime hobby but has a somewhat delicate position now in the household, as daughter and wife are somewhat ambivalent, and it is not always easy to follow the current whim. I am still a bit unsure of what direction I will take. There is the choice to keep photography as a small pastime, only to be brought out during travels and special events. There is the choice to pick up the hobby once again, and keep at it. Or there is the choice to hang the cameras on the proverbial peg on the wall (sell them, in all likely...

5th of August, part two

Bild
Let us start where we left off. Slow train bed and breakfast. We passed Kutens Bensin, the designated waypoint for turning off the main road (wherein is meant a small asphalt road, barely enough for two cars to pass each other. Then there was a small metal ball on top of a stonewall, a sign that with a shaking handwritten scrawl declared "Slow Train". Turning it, we came upon a garden no less. Parking on the grass, to one side there was a barn with a side that said "Eater" and to the other, a standard residence. The garden was in rickety shape, overgrown and ignored. The cellar entrance to the house had been opened, or swung open by itself, with a sign plastered over it that said "Jimmy Polke Välkommen Hem". For some reason, it brought to mind the return of a lost love one, who spent the last years in jail. Anyway, we moved around the residence to the main entrance and peeked suspiciously at the door. It looked just like somebody lived there. No signs o...

Coming up on New Year's

Bild
And so we slowly draw on the close of 2012 and gaze forward, into 2013, thinking that we take with us what we have learned to make ourselves better as human beings, and to make the world easier to understand and easier to live in. Looking back, it has been a somewhat hectic and destabilized year, and I am hoping that will change with the coming one. Still, they say that change is good, and if nothing else, it keeps you on your toes. Personally, I am not so sure. I think that a certain amount of change, coupled with a willingness to change if need be, is optimal. I mean, THEY also say "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", right?  Mozart and Audi enjoying the deep snow in Svabensverk. The fact that they were forced into it against their will, and lured to run with the help of small pieces of sausage is simply not mentioned in the picture.  Some of my greatest treasures that I have amassed during the passed year would have to include my own simple "+/- system...

What have I learned today?

Life chugs on... Christmas is upcoming, and this year will differ greatly from past and previous. This year, Vendela will be here with her entire family. I will, of course, be in the tower at the time, just like last year. Still, suddenly the apartment will be full of people and food and sounds and christmas decorations. The concept fills me with an interesting and wonderful mix of apprehension and fascination. I feel like a shellfish trying to leave my shell behind, a turtle peeking out from the protective cover of the shield. Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide! Except to the tower, of course, but I think that's only common sense... Personally, I abhor the traditional celebration of Christmas, with gifts and all. I like the light decorations and I enjoy the food and the serene gatherings of friends and family, but   I simply detest the rush to get gifts and spend more than you have in the race of consumption. This year is a great year for snow, I will say that much. In ...

Blog this and blog that!

First of all, here's a treat - I am changing the language of the blog from Swedish to English, as the more perceptive of you have already deduced. For so many reasons, the primary being to make it accessible for a wider audience of my friends abroad... Yeah, I am speaking of you in Poland, Holland, Egypt, the States and so on. I should think that the swap will be beneficial and that it won't cause any problems for anyone interested in reading - if so, just leave a comment and I will make sure to personally ignore it... I mean consider it! Needless to say, my speciality during photoshoots has always been to angle my motifs towards horror. Well, no angling required with this bugger, I should say. Here's the true stuff of nightmares, even with the funky eyebrows solely for comic relief... Presently, I am dwelling in limbo, awaiting the latest news on the job offering I have had. One of the more important decisions in my life to make, and well, there are others occurri...
