I must admit this winter turned out a bit differently than planned... or replanned... and replanned again. In fact, the only thing that has been consistent for the season is that all plans have been changed time and again. Hopefully, there will be amble opportunity to rest. It has been a somewhat stressful autumn with a lot of changing premises, and now I want to reload for the spring, and all the challenges that the coming of spring affords us all.

This dark skyline is from Motala Ström, the river that runs straight through Norrköping and is a short walking distance from my apartment. The walks by the water are the highlight of any day, especially now that we are joined by two little goggies. |
Watched the second Sherlock Holmes-movie yesterday. If I pretend that it's really not a Sherlock-movie then it might get a passable degree, if barely. There's no real plot to it, the actors are of a dubious level and the script is an insult to every Holmes-text there ever was. How stupid do they really think people are, if they need to stoop down to such obvious plots and gimmicks as in this movie? Unfortunately, rather indicative of the movie industry of today. Exactly the same thing that happened with I, Robot. They took one of the best books ever written and then made a movie of it, that has missed the point and just become a glorious series of effects without purpose. Just effects and nothing more. I will, however, take the time to very quickly compare it to the Sherlock-series that has aired a couple of seasons on BBC. Now, THAT is nothing short of excellent! A must-see!

Another winterpicture of Vendela playing in the snow. Winter wonderland - a great thing about Sweden that should really be celebrated. Instead, we whine and moan about having to clear the snow, how slippery the roads are, and so on. Still, there is hardly any natural beauty that can surpass the Swedish winter landscape! |
Winter is a great time for pictures, and it seems that with the advent of the digital camera, everyone has started to appreciate the natural beauty of the environment. A great spin-off effect, I think, that the photo opportunities push people out more, to open their eyes and look around. At least, it did so for me, and if I can share that experience with anyone else, I will. Comes highly recommended!

Ah, a traditional Swedish course for the Christmas season - the salmon sandwich. Here is my own special recipe! |
A somewhat large part of my blog will be about cooking, one of my favorite pastimes and almost qualifying as a hobby. Besides, the models are easy to work with and follow instructions to the letter. Perhaps not the most advanced photoshoots, but the side-effect is that one can happily digest the model afterwards. My salmon sandwich involves cold-smoked salmon on top of the Swedish bread "kavring". I butter the kavring with creamcheese, adding some garlic and herbs to it. On top of that, large rings of red onion, some thin slices of tomato (I say tomato) and then comes the salmon in thin slices. Adding some leaves of lettuce and avocado, I complete the dish with some "pepparrotsvisp" (an ingenious invention, consisting of horseradish mixed with whipped cream) and lemon mayonnaise. A couple of sprinkles of chives make it complete! The added sharon fruit is basically for color and desert.

Normally, I am not great with Christmas presents and such. This year... well, there's mostly this one, and it goes to myself. Hardly the season for a rearwheel-propelled battleship, but sometimes the opportunity presents itself, and you just have to roll with it. Quite literally. |
My little NAK-friend (the license plate is NAK902) has now arrived and is successfully gnawing away at the Swedish highways. As a friend of mine put it : "the difference is that now you arrive at your destination, rested".
