What have I learned today?
Life chugs on... Christmas is upcoming, and this year will differ greatly from past and previous. This year, Vendela will be here with her entire family. I will, of course, be in the tower at the time, just like last year. Still, suddenly the apartment will be full of people and food and sounds and christmas decorations. The concept fills me with an interesting and wonderful mix of apprehension and fascination. I feel like a shellfish trying to leave my shell behind, a turtle peeking out from the protective cover of the shield. Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide! Except to the tower, of course, but I think that's only common sense... Personally, I abhor the traditional celebration of Christmas, with gifts and all. I like the light decorations and I enjoy the food and the serene gatherings of friends and family, but I simply detest the rush to get gifts and spend more than you have in the race of consumption.
This year is a great year for snow, I will say that much. In just a few days, it has snowed more and harder than during the entire last year. And I love it. Just wanna say that. Yes, I work in an airport, and I should be fed up with snow-clearing and so on, but I can't help it. I love nature, respect the power of nature, and well, snow is so purdy :P I have looked around in order to possible trade in my "old" car for a new one, looking at Lexus, Mercedes and ... Volvo. Yes, the new V40 has a certain allure to it. And tomorrow is a day for testdriving - will test the Volvo and the Mercedes E 220 CDI. But right now, I must admit I am somewhat happy with the AWD of the KIA. Ah, the feeling of swooshing past other traffic on the highway, not really feeling their inconvenience... Or grabbing parking spots at will, that have been neglected by others simply because they are covered in a foot or so of snow. There is a good feeling to that. Perhaps I'll swap just after this snow has passed, or something...

This here snowy street was taken just the other day in the afternoon, from the balcony of my flat. |
My journey into the intricate secrets of photography continues. As you have probably surmised by this time, I am adamant about only posting the pictures I myself have taken and/or edited. Of course, this leads to there being less pictures than perhaps the ordinary blog, as I don't just repost what others have created. Each picture takes time to compose, take, edit and recode for posting. For what purpose, I hear you cry? Originality? Naw, that's actually not it. The main reason for this blog is to get me thinking, to get me reflecting, to get me writing, and now to get me taking pictures as well.
Next stop on the journey will be to create some pictures together with Vendela. She is very graphical as an artist and has great visions and superb input as co-editor. We shall explore what our common vision can lead us to, next. The intention for the next experiment will be to create the Broken Angel. More on that topic to come, be so sure...
