What's in it for the blog?

What is a blog really about? Who writes one, and for whom? Of course, the main reason, from the top of my head, would be the equivalent of a person standing in the middle of the crowded street, screaming at the top of his or her lungs: "Look at me, here I am!" We blog in order to be seen, to be given attention, to check the number on the counter and feel that someone is interested.
The UFO-watertower of Malmö, shot from the newly
opened massive shopping mall. In the same
editing as my shot of Turning Torso, of course.
If so, you really need to have something to say, something that draws attention. You need to be an expert in some field, like cooking or photography, so that people can tune in and get helpful hints and tips. Or you have a really, really interesting life, so you can write about that. Very few blogs I have ever seen that qualify, but there are people out there who do have these thoughts you just have to feed your own brain with. The final solution for the blog is the one I use. I write the blog mainly for myself, and some of my dearest ones. Since we have a dispersed family, the blog can be a good way to inform our loved ones what is happening in our lives, and I also realize, as I miss my old blogs, that it is an excellent form of diary.

The upcoming week will be tiresome, with some hard shifts for me and magnificent weather. I can just feel how badly I would want a few more days off, but still, time to get cracking. And next weekend promises to be eventful. We are thinking about going down to Skåne, for a forest walk-on (that's right people, paintball-season is back!). Or perhaps remain up here for some more house-showings and also the medieval festival that's at Ekenäs Castle. Promises to have some good photo-ops.

This picture was taken in Söderköping, not far from Norrköping. A store and a street and a community that has really withstood the test of time. Ancient, timeless, and very cozy.
The restructuring of our lives continues and it's going to be a really hectic and expensive summer! Hopefully this week I will be notified if the sale on my apartment has come through, and this in turn sets other wheels in motion. We have been looking high and wide recently for good places to live. We want somewhere out of the hectic life, but still with the comforts of civilization. Looking for a house, I want communal water and waste. Having a private well is not just too much hassle, but also.... well, I have this phobia. Still, there are two types of house we are looking at, and it all depends on whether I can get the loans that I need. Can we afford it? Hell, yes! But there is still an awkward regulation about coming up with a 15% cash deposit for the house. And with a house of 3 million SEK, that's 450 grand. Add to that the "pantbrev" and "lagfartskostnad" and you can easily come up to 600 or more. For the cash deposit... *checking my wallet, moth flies out* it doesn't really matter how much you earn, only that you have the money stashed away.
We want a smaller, more intimate place. A community that seems to reach out to you, in a welcoming fashion.
Some would consider it a waste to take a beautiful model and then not show her, but turn her into a creature of horror. Personally, I think it's like using an expensive wine in cooking - sure, it MAY be overkill, but it gives that little extra edge that makes it all worth it.
So far, we have three places that we dream about. They are somewhat expensive, but well within reach, IF the cash deposit loan comes through. Otherwise, it's going to be a totally different way of life. Otherwise, it will be a much cheaper house, which will afford us with a good cashflow on the side but with a lot of work! Two forms of life. The third option is that the sale of my apartment doesn't come through, so we will stay here in Norrköping for a while, and go back to trying to get it sold. A less desirable option. This apartment is excellent for two, but for three... Weeeeeeell.... Could work but let's not go there....
