Two games, two scenes

Bild
Two games Horrible, evil illnesses spread across the land, tearing through my gaming groups like the coughing is tearing through my chest, threatening to spill my lungs out through my gullet. A lot of games have been cancelled due to sickness, but the weekend is looking up with two games. Kult, session 1 of Oakwood Height, and Call of Cthulhu, session 2 of the Haunting. And they bring with them some interesting settings I thought I would treat you to. The games of Kult and Call of Cthulhu are on something of the same theme, but totally different. As are the two groups that will be playing in these settings, although both groups have three players. It will be awesome to tackle these challenges, and see what develops! Detroit Metropolitan Detroit is home to some 4.3 million people, and the city is known for art, music and architecture, but mostly for the automotive industry. What's up with roleplaying?

There have been some major changes in the RPG market over the years. Since my first introduction to roleplaying about 40 years ago, I have more or less always stayed on the path, and it has been a long one. For me it started with D&D, because there was nothing else (yes, waaay back before there even was thought of putting an A in front). Then came Runequest and Traveller. And then there came the natural transition to Swedish games or translations, like Drakar och Demoner, Chock and Mutant. Eon, the Swedish game, used to be the exception, along with other notable games like Call of Cthulhu and AD...

Reboot of the Cave of Games

So here's a reboot with some thoughts and plans for upcoming gaming... Henceforth, the blog will be centered around gaming, and specifically, the groups in which I am involved in. As a player or as a GM, but with the weight centered around the last part. First, I do notice that a lot of groups, at least mine, tend to collapse on themselves due to player inactivity. This has been a trend during latter years, but used to be so different. This led me to thinking - what are the different roles and responsibilities in a typical gaming group? Why do we need to talk about this? There's a huge change in RPGs, how they are shaped, how they are designed, and how they are played. That's fine. This here is probably some kind of rift between how an oldie like me is used to it being, or how I think it should be, for raising an issue with what I perceive to be a problem today. A GM buys all the books, reads up on the rules, buys the adventures and supplements, reads up on all th...
